Francois Kablan was a star player for Harlow Reserves

A “talented footballer” who was stabbed to death in the street has been remembered as a “wonderful person”.

Francois Kablan was found on Great Dover Street in Southwark, south London, by emergency workers who were called to a fight.

The 19-year-old from Bermondsey, who played for Harlow Reserves died at the scene, at 17:30 BST on Wednesday.

Two males, aged 17 and 18, were arrested on suspicion of murder and remain in custody.

A 20-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman, also arrested on suspicion of murder, were bailed.

‘Superb hat-trick’

Harlow Reserves manager Adam Connolly said: “Francois was a wonderful person and player.

“A lot of our players went to the same college as Francois, so it’s been hard on everyone within the squad to hear of this tragic news.

“On his last game for Harlow, he scored a superb hat-trick to win us the game and walk away with the match ball.

“He was certainly a talented footballer and one who could have gone on to feature for the first team.

“On behalf of all of the squad, and everyone at the club, our thoughts are with his family and friends.”

Det Ch Insp Kate Kieran said: “Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of Francois. This is a tragic loss of life of a young man and we will continue to investigate to ensure justice.

“Please do get in touch if you have any information about the incident, no matter how small you think it is.”
